What qualifies a song for publishing registration?

For a song to qualify for publishing registration, it needs to be an original song written and/or controlled wholly or in part by you.  We can only accept original song registrations, which contain music and lyrics composed by you, the songwriter, and/or the songwriters’ you have express authority to act on behalf of. We do not accept song registrations you did not create or represent, because you are not the rights holder.

If a song registration contains a sample or interpolation, the sample will need to be pre-cleared with the original copyright holder(s)/owner(s) before it can be submitted.

If there are co-writers or sample shares on your song registrations, your songwriter share or split, (i.e., the percentage of ownership attributed to you for your contribution to the song), will need to be accurately reflected.
