What is an ISRC code?

An ISRC code is a 12 character, alphanumeric code that is assigned to a sound or video recording.

An ISRC code (International Standard Recording Code) is a 12 character, alphanumeric code that is assigned to a sound or video recording. The ISRC allows the rights holder to identify and track the usages of the specific sound or video recording for its lifetime.

Each ISRC consists of; a country code (GB), first registrant code (AAA), year of reference (21), and a designation code (00001). Each CMO (collection management organisation) worldwide is able to grant you an ISRC code prefix, which includes the country code and first registrant code, should you need to generate your own ISRC.
